Pastor Valeriy B. – A Dream Come True

Pastor B. in his own words – 

Pastor Valeriy is participating in a seminar at his church in Chelyabinsk. Their fourth session has been completed.

Here is his testimony: I was born in 1968. Today, I am married and we have three sons. I serve as a deacon in the Church of the Gospel in the city of Chelyabinsk. My life has been transformed by my learning at the church.

Before I began my training, my life went on like in many families: work, long trips, providing for my family. I tried to overcome all the difficulties and problems in my own strength. I felt discouraged and alone. As a result, I came to an impasse.

In 2011, I realized that there is no life without God. I accepted the claims of my Savior. The following year, I was baptized along with my wife and middle son. A short time later our eldest son and his wife and our younger son were all baptized. Everything came true as Christ said:

“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you and your whole house will be saved.” (Acts 16:31).

Thus began my new Christian life. At the church, I took additional courses in spiritual education. I took an active role in the life of our church. My desire to study grew. Because of my age, I did not even imagine or dream that formal education might be possible. But God once again showed that everything is possible with Him!

Studying at the seminary helped me change many things in my life. My understanding of what a Christian should be – as a minister, as a father, and as a husband all changed. I learned about ministry in the church; to our people and our families. I came to appreciate the importance and quality and content of the sermon so that our people can better understand the Scriptures and apply them properly in their lives. My task as a pastor is to transmit the Word of God both in preaching and in fellowship.

How successfully I have achieved this goal is difficult for me to say. Others will judge. But I know for sure that during this training period, I am thankful to God for my teachers. They have increased my knowledge and understanding both in ministry and in life. My character has been formed and my faith strengthened.
